Court adjourns case against four Radio Simba journalists (Demo)

Kampala, 10th/ May/2021; Court at Buganda Road has today 10th May 2021 adjourned a case in which four Radio Simba journalists popularly known a ‘Bizonto’(local comedians) are charged with Promoting Sectarianism contrary to section 41 of the Penal Code Act to 10th June 2021.

Prosecution led by Patricia Chingtho told the court that investigations into the matter had not been concluded. She prayed to the court to be granted more time for the investigations to be concluded.

The accused’s counsel Geoffrey Turyamusiima of Wameli & Co. Advocates prayed to the court for disclosures( release of information in possession of the prosecution) to enable him to prepare for the defense.

The Trial Magistrate Asuman Muhumuza granted a one month’s adjournment to 10th June 2021 and the hearing is expected to commence on that date.

The prosecution alleges that the local comedians to wit; Maliseeri Mbabali( Uncle Luyugumo), Gold Ki Marino (Opeto), Peter Sabakaaki (omuzinyuuzi), and Julius Sserwanja( Kidomoole) during the month of June 2020, within the district of Kampala, made and published on different social media platforms videos containing information which is likely to discontent citizens of Uganda against the Banyankole tribe by indicating that most of the leaders in Uganda are of the said tribe.
