Minister Kibuule Threatens Journalist for Covering Land saga (Demo)

Mukono, 13th /October/2017; The State Minister for Water Resources and Member of Parliament for Mukono North Constituency Hon. Ronald Kibuule is alleged to have threatened David Musisi Kalyankolo , a Bukedde Television correspondent in Mukono District. Musisi is believed to have reported a story on Bukedde Television where the minister is allegedly involved in a land wrangle with residents of Kigaya in Buikwe District.

It is alleged that the Minister bought 85 acres of land from a one Musa Kateregga located at Kigaya Landing site in Najja subcounty, Buikwe District in Eastern Uganda having tenants but declined to compensate them.

Compensation of the tenants was a condition for them to vacate the land. Police officers who were deployed to guard the land beat up one of the residents, a one Dickson Wasswa Mboowa and killed him.I called the Minister to get his side of the story about the demise of Wasswa but he threatened me that I was dealing with an influential person and he would teach me a lesson if I went ahead and aired the story”, Musisi Kanyankolo told HRNJ-Uganda.

The Minister told my colleagues that he is looking for me and that he knows my residence. This is making me fear for my life because I don’t know what will happen to me,” a shaken but upbeat Musisi narrated to HRNJ-Uganda.

Asked if he would continue following up the story to its end, Musisi though hesitant insisted that he would not give up on his duty to provide the public with information given that the Minister does not dispute the facts as aired in the story.

Efforts to get a comment from the Honorable Minister were futile as his phone calls went unanswered.
