Medical practitioner testifies in journalist’s assault case.

Masaka, 24th June 2016; A medical officer from Masaka Regional Referral Hospital, Dr. Kasozi Charles, has today 24th June, 2016 testified in a case in which Eddie Ssansa the former National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary contestant for Lwengo District assaulted a journalist.

Ssansa, was dragged in court for assaulting and damaging property of a Daily Monitor journalist, Shamim Jjingo Nakawooya on 28th/October/2015 during the NRM primaries for asking him “embarrassing” questions. Ssansa lost the National Resistance Movement primaries as a flag bearer for a parliamentary seat in Lwengo District.

Dr. Kasozi, testifying before Magistrate Aisha Nabukeera, said he examined Shamim and established that she sustained injuries in the chest and the elbow of the right hand caused by a sharp object and the injuries were classified as harm.

Prosecution is led by Moureen Tusiime while Ssansa is represented by Wasswa Joseph. The Magistrate adjourned the case to 6th/July/ 2016 when the Investigating officer will be cross examined. Prosecution is expected to close its case on that day.
